Slacking
Hey sorry I have been slacking on this online oneway relationship. Anyways, last time we talked I was getting ready to do my film. So far so good, I am enjoying working everyday and creating relationships both in and out of character. My girlfriend in the movie, Lindsey Felton, is extremely talented and used to work a lot as a youngen. She is a joy to work with and is quite talented, it really helps in creating the arc of the character. She was telling me about her Nickelodeon days and it reminded me of my old crush on Punky Brewster.
Anyways, we have shot in Central Park, as well as some rooftop scenes, which look very visually appealing. In addition, the shots at the 11st Bar came out very independent and raw, packed with emotion. I can’t wait to see the first cut. Our director is cutting it as we go to help with his vision. In addition, I am also working on 5 to 6, www.fivetosix.com , which is a webisode I was cast in.
The webisode will be shot in the Bronx, late September and October. I play Ernie, the confused theater techie with a few quirks and quivers. That reading went phenomenal, everyone was quite talented and the role allowed my inner goofballness to explode. There are some many fun situations; getting caught self pleasuring to first dates and picking on my best friend. It should prove to be great.
In addition, I attended a forum to meet CD’s and agents. I did my monologue from Saving Private Ryan and got to meet a slew of industry reps, including: Amy Gossels, Todd Miller, John Shea, Jenevieve Brewer, Diana Doussant, Cynthia Katz and David Vaccari from Bernard Telsey. Things went really well with Amy, John, David and Todd. They seemed the most responsive, so I will be following up soon.
Then I auditioned for Estrogenius at the Manhattan Theater Source, it is a one-act play series written by Women. My mother used to work for a women’s group and I was basically raised in a women’s environment, so I am all for women empowerment. Anyways, I auditioned for a sleazy actor trying to take advantage of this young actress after taking her to a premiere and it was fun. I got to play with that girl left and right, flirting, seducing, womanizing, apologizing and threatening her all at the same time. Needless to say, had a callback yesterday. The director asked me to change it many times. The final audition she wanted me to not hold back and let my scene partner have it when she runs away from me and boy did I let her have it. A screw went loose and I scared her to death, even the director was speechless and sitting back in her seat. As I walked out I knew I didn’t get the role but sure hit my mark. Sometimes there’s a fine line between pleasing them and really trully giving them ”what” they want.
Last quick note. I appeared on Guiding Light on Friday. It was a speaking role as ‘Dude’. My friend, John Driscoll is also on the show, we hung out all day on set and it was a joy to watch him work. He was one of the most prepared actors on set. Caitlin Van Zandt, his love interest on the show, was extremely nice as well, she took pics and sent them to me. Take a look at them, I have posted them here. My first scene, where Doris is running for mayor and ‘Dude’ disses her and starts ranting about the old ‘hottie’ mayor was cut. That was my little U/5. Oh well, you can still see me buying coffee from John, as his character Coop, a little later in the show. If you are interested, log on to http://www.cbs.com/daytime/gl/video/ and click on 8/17/07’s show.
I am going to see ‘SuperBad’ today, apparently it’s supposed to be f’ing hilarious. I’ll letcha know. Then later Amy is dancing in the Fringe Festival in ‘Pogo and Evie’ at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts, 566 La Guardia Place. Please come and support, shows are Sun 8/19 at 8:45pm, Tue 8/21 at 3:15pm, Wed 8/22 at 10:30pm and Thur 8/23 at 9:15pm. Later
