I have been getting emails from all my friends about my movie, ‘Rise of the Dead’. It is all over Blockbuster and everytime a friend goes, they see it and get all excited. http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/369046 Well, now here are the latest pictures next to our oldtime Playboy pinup turned actress and Jim Carrey arm candy, Jenny McCarthy. Anyways, it received lots of reviews and unfortunately, is not as much a zombie movie as some might have expected. Otherwise, prepare yourself for a pretty interesting ending.
My youtube account is up now: www.youtube.com/StephenSeidel . I am currently working with editors to get my materials uploaded and ready for viewing. There are several projects which, I have done up there, but I will be posting several more clips and films. I am meeting with a director, Ron Massuci, who did my last film to help with its uploading and preparation later today. I am very excited and this is the first step to show the world the talent that lies behind me.
So yesterday I auditioned for 3 things. One was a Mohegan Sun commercial at House Production for dancers and singers. Funny thing is, I have no technique training and my last singing class was back in high school, where I was in the same choir with Pink. Anyways, back then I was baritone and now I am a bass and still trying to find my pitches. We had to learn choreography and then dance, and finally act at the end. The piece we learned was only a 16 count, thank goodness. Well by the end of the audition I gave it my all and nothing went as planned, let’s just leave it that way. If they cast based on passion, I should be all good, if not, we’ll see.
I also auditioned for a ESPN print ad for sports fans. Now we all know by now the Giants beat the Cowboys, I can’t decide how I feel since every NFC East team except my EAGLES, were in the playoffs. I guess since I live in NY, I am okay with the G’men advancing. So I went into the casting in my Eagles t-shirt from ‘Invincible’ quoting, “Winning is For the Birds” and my 80’s winter hat with a pom-pom on top. I also do a little announcing for the Eagles too, www.eaglespodcasts.com as the DJ, Bird Beat. I have been growing out my facial hair for a student shoot next week, so the scruff came in handy to look like my blue-collar Philly kinfolk.
In addition, I went to a SAG Seminar with Aleta Chappelle. It was a workshop and we all got to do Cold Readings. I had to do a scene from ‘The Departed’ that Leo did. It was quite fun and she gave me great reviews. I was also with an old friend, Quisha Saunders, we spoke a great deal and used to work together back in the day at BAM, Brooklyn Academy of Music, at the cafe. She was recently in American Gangster with Denzel, it the “BLOT THAT SH*T” scene.
I also recently met up with a great director, Rainer Evans, who directed me in a show, ‘Five to Six’, which I had to step away from due to scheduling conflicts. He gave me a copy of the pilot episode we shot and we discussed working together soon. We may possibly shoot a sequel to my short film, ‘Reconnaissance’. We are in talks now and also discussing another short film concept, to be revealed at a later date. I will be following up with him later this week.
Also, I spoke with another friend, George Carr, he is going to be producing another play in April and would like me to join. I am contemplating a move to LA, so I must schedule accordingly. However, he is also planning a short film about James Dean, to be played by a very talented actor and friend, Mark Thomas, that will be completed in the fall. George is planning on possibly using Michael Lange and DoubleThink Productions to assist in its completion. Thus, I scheduled a meeting with George to show him, ‘Intervention’, the film Michael and I made a few months back. That should be fun to catch up, drink wine, and hear George’s tons of stories about ‘the biz’. He is such a giving person and any time spent with him is a blast.
Ray Aranha, from Prometheus Fire just contacted me for a future rehearsal of ‘Snow Pressings’. He also mentioned Joe Meyers a journalist I mentioned before wants to feature me in a story he is writing about the show. Keep ready, it’ll be up soon.
I am making some big strides in the adapation of my book into a screenplay and am really trying to utilize ANY free time I have to complete this. I am also attempting to learn how to run my own website that Leslie Reiter created: www.stephenseidel.net . She did a great job, but now I want to update on realtime to keep connected with my youtube. Talk to yall later.
