Tribeca and NY
Well, I am very excited because I have 3 films that I have acted in being submitted for the Tribeca Film Festival in 2008. I wrote and acted in Reconnaissance a 3 min short film shot by myself and Jim Ford in Astoria, Queens. We decided with my friends stunt background and my experience just being crazy to make a film.
One day last year I ran out of headshots while making rounds at agencies and casting directors’ offices on Halloween. I was giving candy and my headshot trying to make some connections. Anyways, I ran out of headshots and ran back to my apartment, only to remember I left my bag in the city, with my house key. So I decided to scale the back fire escape wall and then lift my roommate’s window and break-in to my own house. After that story, my friend Jim got some ideas and the following Saturday we decided to do some avante-garde stuntwork and shoot it on Mini-Dv. Finally we edited and have since been accepted into the San Antonio Underground Film Festival and the Action on Film Festival, which we were nominated for Best Action Sequence.
So last week, I called my friend Ayler, who runs Tribeca Cinemas and told him I was interested in submitting. I have been busy traveling so I just now got around to it. I just dropped it off on Monday. In addition, my feature film which I am the lead, ‘2 Star State of Mind’, which is the first film of a talented writer and director, Ron Masucci is also being submitted. And lastly, the talented writer, director, producer and actor Michael Lange who created ‘Intervention’ was also sent it. So it looks promising, we should be doing it up sometime late April and May at the festival. We shall see…
In addition, I am currently rehearsing for ‘SnowPressings’ by the Drama Desk award winner, Ray Aranha. You can see his last role co-starring with Susan Sarandon in ‘Dead Man Walking’. This piece is a racial driven piece about mixed marriages and Eldridge Cleaver. I play the white friend of the bi-racial marriage. Ray’s writings often deal with racism and sexism, two issues which are big right now with the upcoming elections involving both Obama and Hillary. A journalist, Joe Meyers from the Conn. Post contacted me about writing a piece from a different perspective. We will be discussing more next week, I will keep you posted.
Last week, I also auditioned for an Auto Show for the role of the spokesperson of Ford’s F150, in the tune of Justin Long’s “Mac Guy”. It went great and we should hear sometime later this week, the director mentioned I might be too young, we’ll see. Also I am scheduled to audition for a Mohegan Sun commercial back at my old stompin’ grounds, House Production. I used to intern there at House with Neil Myer and have since booked a national Hershey’s Commercial, an online PSA and been called back numerous times for plenty of other things.
Well, I am running late and need to get to the gym to do some cardio workouts. I am trying to tighten up for my next role in a student film, which I portray a rage infested steroid baseball player. I have been watching a lot of Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds videos, only joking guys. Later.
