Manhattan Theater Source-Cast, Lead 'A Body Without a Head'

Today, I was cast as the lead in ‘A Body without a Head’ by George Carr to be performed at The Manhattan Theater Source, the end of April. It is a series of dramatic poems surrounding the life of ‘Pollo’, who is inspired by Apollo, the Greek God. More to come later.

In addition, I am in the final rounds of auditioning for ‘Fox Network’ documentaries for Bob Esperante story, which are a series of sports inspired dramatic pieces. It is being cast by Judy Keller. In addition, I auditioned for a V/O for the the new ‘Marines Myspace Pledge Engine’. Things are going great and I was also contacted by a career counselor who wants to represent me in my searches of the LA market. She used to work with my old coach and mentor, Anthony Bova, from ‘The Eric Morris Technique’.

Sunday, I attended Amy’s show, Cirque Le Masque, which is a spinoff of Cirque de Soleil. It was at the Brooklyn College Walt Whitman Theater, and was very entertaining. Amy did a great job and I helped her with her final preparations for her character. My sister came from Philly and it was great to see her, even though it was only for a few minutes.

“Celebration of Life” my documentary is fully complete in the creation process. It will now need to be flushed out and shot. It is a great concept on observing life’s finer things. We will be following the who, what, when, where and how’s of how to ‘Celebrate Life’. Our first subject will most likely be a victim of AIDS, to promote awareness of this worldwide epidemic.

This Friday and Saturday, I am doing re-shoots of ‘2 Star State of Mind’. Once those days are completed, the film will be complete and even closer to distribution. I play the lead, ‘Steve Willoughby’ and it revolves around addiction and its affected counterparts. This film has also been entered in Tribeca, so I hope it gets accepted ( along with my other 2 films, I’m in).

My script is coming along nicely, I am adapting a book and plan to meet with the author sometime in the next two weeks to discuss our progress. Lastly, today I joined a sign language class to learn more about language and communication, and its also been a goal of mine to learn, so I am excited to be stepping in the right direction. Oh yeah, ran into Fred Armisen from SNL today, we spoke on the street for a few minutes, he talked alot about LA and comedic opportunities out there and with UCB. He’s a great guy and had a lot to offer in terms of shaping my comedic endeavors. That’s it for now. Enjoy the sun before the snow pummels us again!

Start your engines

Well, its been a few days. I have travelled to Tucson, AZ to help a friend on set. Then we visited the San Xavier Mission, it was amazing to feel the energy surrounding us. I love to experience the Native American culture and their grassroots methodology. I bought a Navajo necklace to ward off bad dreams.

In addition, I travelled to Utica, NY to visit my mom, grandmom and aunt. It was a blast to revisit my childhood explorations. I even went to the VFW for $1.50 screwdrivers, yummy. Then I went to Philly to visit my sister on my way back to NYC. It was a wonderful time to reconnect with loved ones.

Throughout my travels I read ‘Screenwriting’ books and now I am ready to begin adapting my book into a screenplay. I expect to be done by April, which will leave me all of April for rewrites, to be finished by May. In addition, I am in pre-production to shoot a documentary with DJohnson, in hopes it will be ready for Tribeca Film Festival, which I am also hoping my short film is admitted.

I have been reading, ‘The Secret’ and trying to use my power of suggestion and visualization to bring me what I need in life. Happiness, success, and other promises I have made to myself, which you don’t need to know. So on Monday, I met with About Face Models to discuss representation. It went well and I got a call today for a V/O audition tomorrow. My last 2 out of 3 V/O auditions, I was on-hold for, so I’m am confident this one will also go well. It is at ‘The Sound Lounge’.

Also, We Love Soaps Website has posted my ESPN cover and a little dialog about me. http://welovesoaps.blogspot.com/2008/02/stephen-seidel-on-espn-magazine-cover.html  I also heard from the ‘Philadelphia Eagles’, which spotted me as the lone ‘Eagles’ fan in the article and mentioned contacting me potentially in the future about other advertisements. Another past film, ‘Manhattanites’ is completing editing and will be finishing their film soon. I played “Coop” a newsreporter, the film stars several soap names and can be seen at imdb.

In addition, I just read ‘Acting as a Business’ by Brian O’Neill, which lays out a specific format to make your own leads and auditions by preparing for upcoming shows. Today, I spent the day telephoning producers and laying the groundwork for future upcoming play submissions. I am excited to hit the ground running and start working on some new plays. Well, I’m off to the gym in this snow storm outside, I hope my New Balance shoes make it through the winter wonderland. I will talk to you soon.

Finding Peace

So recently, I have been reading and reading and reading and just being at peace with everything that comes my way. I visited the Drama Book Store and read Sam Sheperd’s ‘The Late Henry Moss”, what a great play. Pretty much all of my acting work connects to Ethan Hawke somehow. And I have noticed that Ethan Hawke, has done several of the plays that Sean Penn has completed. I received an email from Stanley Wilson, one of the producers from Hawke’s ‘The Hottest State” and he’ll be coming up to NYC soon. I hope we get to link up this time.

So my friend, emailed me this, I’m on the “We Love the Soaps, Soap Star Birthdays” http://welovesoaps.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html (they got my age wrong though!)

So I have created a publicity packet for my ESPN Cover shoot with all the print sheets and also my review from the CT Post. My friend Anthony from MSNBC is going to help me matte my prints on a display for myself. He has helped me with suggestions for my website and how to underground market myself. Have I mentioned www.youtube.com/stephenseidel yet?? Ha Ha.

I am also flushing out my documentary idea to shoot in the beginning of March. My finances are getting backed up, but I need a camera and will put it on credit, if needed. So that I can begin my online creations. Anthony and I had an idea for the UnderArmour Superbowl advertisement to spoof it. We are writing it now. My buddy, Ian, was in a superbowl commercial and he inspired me to set a goal to be on a Superbowl commercial next year, so get ready.

I watched the Superbowl and had a blast, just taking time out to enjoy the daily activities and not be pounding my head for emailing and web designs, etc. So it was nice to chill. Today was back to the grind as I spoke with a few agents and uploaded my hosting reel to actors access. I really do enjoy hosting and it allows me to just chill out and be spontaneous and do my job. I am trying to push for more of those opportunities now. However, I will be going to AZ for a job on Wednesday and Thursday and visiting my mother on Friday, so that leaves me with a short week.

I am reading a screenwriting book and it is helping me visualize my script in a much more thorough capacity as I piece together bits and scraps from the book I am adapting. I can wait to get this started. I have finaldraft and I am ready. The movie is an ode to my good buddy’s father, who passed on and is involved in the book. As I finished my outline, I was so excited.

Anyways, long story short, you can’t push things, but need to be on the ball, so as I travel my path through time and space, I am at peace, yet always ready for the next adventure. Goodbye.
