2 Film Screenings: 'Manhattanites' and '2 Star State of Mind'

Tonight, Thurs. May 22nd at Tribeca Cinemas, ‘Manhattanites’ will be premiering to a sold out crowd. The movie was written and directed by Gregori J. Martin, Co-directed by Darnell Williams from Law & Order, and co-written by another friend, Roger Newcomb.

The film is a soap style feature film, starring Ilene Kristen, Forbes March, Lev Gorn, Aiden Turner, with David Fumero, Jill Larson, Alex McCord and many other stars. I play a small role of Chuck Cooper, the newscaster. Roger from Loger, Inc. asked me to do a bit part and I really enjoyed the cast. Tasha Guevara and Matt Martini have also worked together in the past, so it was great to link up with them again.

Email for an invite. Tribeca Cinemas, 54 Varick Street, at 8pm. www.manhattanitesthemovie.com

SATURDAY NIGHT, 5/24 at 6pm, ‘2 Star State of Mind’ Premieres at Helen Mills Theater, 139 W 26th St.

‘2 Star State of Mind’ stars myself as the lead, with Lindsay Felton (of Caitlyn’s Way), Chris Kerson, Marcia Haufrecht, Amy Highfill, and more. It take place in NY and follows the life of Steve, myself, as he journeys through his life bounded by addiction on all sides. His father is a lottery guru, his mother is a QVC fanatic, and yes there’s more. Come to the movie to see what happens.

The film was quite an experience for me, it’s SAG Low Modified Budget and we shot it in about 18 days. The DP, Jesse Malings, was fantastic and Ron Massucci did a stellar job directing his first film. The film is bound to move you and make you laugh several times.

Once again, Saturday, May 24th, 6pm, Helen Mills Theater, be there!

Meetings and collaborations: CAA, Bass-Seidel Productions

‘Making an Honor Code’, a comedy sketch written and directed by Evan Bass, as well as myself was shot last week at Columbia University. The footage looks tremendous and we are editing as we speak. The performances were varying on a larger scale both on characters, personalities and source material, but the end result was always and will be the same: funny. Stay tuned for youtube post in the near future. This sketch was originally written for Judah Friedlander, but his availability was limited. Thus, we moved forward.

‘Renegade Reporting’ is a project where I reported in Union Square, ‘renegade’ style, in a guerilla manner. We interviewed the likes of skaters, tag artists, film reviewers, professors, informercial entrepreneurs, wheel chair homies, and many many more. The material is currently being edited by Phil Raymond of ‘Hood City’.  We should be done in the next week or two.

Yesterday, I met with a close friends’ family member from CAA. She was very cool and works mainly in the NYC Theater District. We connected on many levels and I agreed to commute back and forth to NY and LA, in order to further relationships with both her and her clients. We will be moving forward on future LA meetings and possibly collaboration in the near future. All I have to say, is this woman was both extremely friendly and personable, which is exactly what I was looking for in a representative. And once again, more to come.

A Body Without a Head, 'Mideo'

So we made a movie/video to see how it would look on my Canon HV-20. We did all the poems from the successful play of the same title.

My scenes were totally different in contrast to working them on stage. It took place in the actual environments with time to prep and block the scene accordingly. In addition, some of the final scenes which take place at the beach, were shot at Wading River, Long Island.

The cove at Wading River, Long Island is beautiful and the crashing of the waves, singing of the seagulls and stretch of sand were all very enriching. However, it was raining on the day to shoot our scenes there, thus we had to be creative.  The writer/director/producer George Carr utilized his creative influx of ideas and the result was compared to Fellini himself. More to come once its complete.

In addition, I was able to capture all the publicity and stock photos from the play. They look great and I will be adding them soon to both my page and several other websites. Keep an eye out.

Counting Down

So I have decided to move to LA. I have a close friend, Matt Dunn, who will be producing a play he wants me as the lead in. In addition, a few other friends are busy working on their respective projects and I will be collaborating with them.

I will be driving across the country a few days after my birthday, May 31st and filming with my camera. I recently purchased a Canon HV-20 and will be documenting my trip, as well as developing a mini-documentary to edit upon my arrival in LA.

WAVING WATCHES: Last Friday, I filmed an online video promo for Waving Watches. com a site with presidential candidates waving at you on a watch. It was the Top Ten Reasons to Purchase one and ‘Keep Democracy Ticking’. The video should be completed very soon. I’ll post when completed. Upon leaving the studio, we ran into Christian Slater and decided to give him an Obama watch to support the election and the watches. Best of both worlds.

MAKING AN HONOR CODE: This is the sketch comedy short, myself and Evan Bass will be shooting tomorrow about making an honor code in the most honest way as possible. This project came about, because Judah Friedlander showed some interest in collaborating on a project. Later he was no longer interested, but we wrote the script and are going to go ahead and complete the product. Shooting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday May 15th. I am producing and will be playing Kenny, the pothead who is addicted to Nintendo Wii.

RENEGADE REPORTING: Another side project I am collaborating with Phil Raymond with to create an urban street reporting show is underway. I bombarded Union Square to find out all the ins and outs of New York City and some of the finer things to know. We are editing it as we speak and hope to be completed very shortly. Just a quick tidbit of what’s to come: Highlights of the craziest thing seen on NYC subways.

A BODY WITHOUT A HEAD: George Carr, the director of the play I was featured with great reviews from Theater Corps and Playbill at Manhattan Theater Source, is trying to convert into a feature film. We are going to shoot experimental footage at Wading River, Long Island and another location in NYC to edit into a small teaser for prospective creation into a film. I will once again be playing the lead, Pollo, who the entire story revolves around, when his girlfriend cheats on him with his brother, and there’s plenty more than that. Stay tuned.

GOING TO HOLLYWOOD: I also got footage from a mock-reality show pilot I did way back in the day, Anyways, long story short, my character gets chosen to go to Hollywood and I go crazy. I have that footage and will be posting shortly, via my editor, Dan Schimpf, now that I am truly ‘Going to Hollywood’.

Mailing list to come to my website soon, as my friend, Shawn Waite, a web designer is updating now. My “Commemoration of Life” video is also featured on my home page. Thanks for everything.
